In that case I would strongly advise against changing the input module. Right now you have some flexibility in how you route the physical input jacks to the “virtual” outputs of the input module. I did strike a balance when I designed the input module - I could have made the option available to route each input jack to any of the 8 virtual outputs of the input module, but that would mean you have to page through 16 pages (!) with one scope per page, so I grouped 4 jacks per page to make it a little less tiresome to get some configuration going.
If I simplify it, and basically hardwire a group of 8 physical input jacks to the 8 virtual outputs, and you have a toggle to switch between the groups, it will give you less flexibility than you have right now.
Another question is whether the output module has to be changed so it has 8 inputs, that way you don’t have to go anymore to the P-page of the output module to configure to which of the physical jacks the output signal has to be sent. @jason thought the output module was not entirely clear so maybe this is something to think about (?)
