GRID Ecosystem Project

Ok breaking this conversation into its own thread per @wavejockey suggestion.

So this is for discussions of the GRID ecosystem of plugins. And how this will work I think is each will have a pre-wiring midi feature. So you would be able to add GRID. And the ecosystem of plugins and enable their midi bus and channel routing and it work automagically.

You don’t have to use it either.

For instance;

GRID — sampler (what we’re building)

gSEQ — step sequencer (Elektron Digitakt style with parameter locks, 8 tracks, etc )

gMOD — motion sequencer / modulation recorder (8 CV slots)

gMIX — performance mixer (8 channels, mutes, solos, sends)

And so on.

All share the same visual language — 8 pad/channels, same tab system, same encoder layout

for the magieck to work, do we need to setup a container module where all these sub modules reside ?
or will it then be too difficult to bring out audio/CV outside this system?

when connecting 2 or more of these together, the auto would be that pad1 (of GRID) is connected to slot 1 of the motion sequencer, ch1 of the mixer and so on ?

what would happen when we connect 2 sequencers to 1 GRID, or 4 mod CVs with 1 pad of GRID ?

Ok great questions as always – I am so thankful you are active man or I would be doing this with no one… lol – well that isn’t fair @thetechnobear and @Handsonicsuki have been active as well.

Interesting in this container module… I didn’t think of that but we could have like a gHUB I suppose.

so in all the gXXX modules there will be a CONFIG slide out overlay witjh a list of options for that plugin and general which would apply probably to all of them, like a global perhaps.

My initial thought was in settings you would activate them… so like gMIX: on/off, and so on.

i haven’t scaled this out to multiple sequencers… but we could specify that or lets say have options like:

  • Broadcast (or call it Connect) : on/off
  • gMIX: on /off

Then it has a auto detecto to detect how mant of that instance are present and are broadcassting I guess we could call it.
